We are often the specialist joiner behind a landmark room — restaurants, hotels and public interiors, made to the standard of fine furniture and built to take the trade.
Alongside our work in private houses, MSO makes joinery for some of the country’s more demanding commercial and hospitality interiors.
We name the clients we have worked for, and show our own photographs of the work we made. A few of them are below.
Michelin-starred restaurant · Smithfield, London
Club Gascon
MSO carried out the bespoke joinery for the 2017 relaunch of this Michelin-starred French restaurant opposite Smithfield Market — the panelling, bar and fitted detail behind a refurbishment that drew warm national press.

Five-star hotel & spa · New Forest
Chewton Glen
At the five-star Chewton Glen we made the fitted joinery of The Kitchen — the cookery school and restaurant created with chef James Martin: the runs of leather booths, the fluted-copper bar and oak wine-rack back-bar, the oak-framed screens and the serveries with their oak drawer banks. We have also made the oak ladder stairs to the loft bedrooms of the treehouse suites.

Chewton Glen — the reception desk
Two years after The Kitchen, the hotel came back for the piece every guest meets first: the main reception desk of the house, where guests check in. A substantial antique-style desk in dark mahogany — raised-and-fielded panels edged with inlaid stringing, brass ring pulls, three inset leather writing tops — with a fitted staff counter behind, made in Poole as one piece of furniture.

The Lygon Arms
For the multi-million-pound restoration of The Lygon Arms — a 14th-century coaching inn in the same hotel group as Chewton Glen — MSO designed, built and installed the bespoke reception desk and glazed display cabinets for the new Lygon Spa: the first thing every guest sees on arrival.
