I — On our work
We don't fit furniture into a room. We draw it for the room, and make it to stay — part of the architecture, not applied to it.
Every commission begins with a survey and a drawing. Nothing leaves the workshop as a stock part; each stair, panel and cabinet is set out for one house and made to the standard of fine furniture.
What began at a single bench is now a workshop and a team of joiners and cabinetmakers in Poole — the same standards, at greater scale, and the range to take on a whole house or a commercial fit-out.

We design, draw, make and install under one roof in Poole. The people who survey your house are the people who set it out on the bench and hang the finished work — so nothing is lost in translation.
It means a single point of responsibility for the whole commission, and a standard we can stand behind for generations.

Every commission is priced for the room, so there is no catalogue price — bespoke architectural joinery is an investment rather than an off-the-shelf purchase. The best way to get a real figure is a short conversation about the project: tell us the room, the house and what you have in mind, and we’ll give you a guide before we ever visit.
Where does MSO Joinery work?
Our workshop and showroom are in Poole, and we work throughout Dorset — Sandbanks, Canford Cliffs, Branksome Park, Bournemouth and the wider county — as well as the New Forest, Hampshire and selected projects in London.
What kinds of joinery do you make?
Bespoke staircases, wall panelling and wainscoting, fitted libraries, studies and media walls, fine cabinetry, bespoke doors, heritage and period joinery including sash windows, and commercial and hospitality fit-out. Everything is designed, made and fitted by one workshop in Poole.
How long does a bespoke joinery project take?
It depends on the size of the commission and the timber, but as a guide most rooms run from a few weeks to a few months from survey to fitting. We give you a programme up front and keep to it — one team surveys, makes and installs, so there’s no waiting on separate trades.
Do you work with architects and interior designers?
Regularly. We’re happy to make and fit to an architect’s or designer’s drawings with our own detailing, or to design a piece from scratch — whichever suits the project.
Can you match joinery in a period or listed home?
Yes. We take mouldings and profiles off the existing building and reproduce them, so new panelling, doors, staircases and sash windows sit as though they were always there — with the restraint that listed and conservation-area homes ask for.
